Question #1:

What are the best ELECTRIC cooking ranges for the $500-800 price range? Brands and models from EXPERIENCE?

I just bought a foreclosed townhouse and need to purchase a new range since the one there currently is cracked inside and not usable. I do not want to spend more than $800 INCLUDING delivery. I only have the option of electric and it needs to be the standard 30" size. I have been looking at Maytag, Frigidaire, Whirlpool and GE. Has anybody had either a really good or really bad experience with any of these brands? I want something with an accurate oven temp, FAIRLY easy to clean/maintain and in stainless steel. Thanks!

Question #2:

Frigidaire Electric Range HELP!!!!!?

I have a brand new Frigidaire Electric FEF368 Range. I think there was a power surge (the circut in the breaker blew) and now nothing works. The display does not come on. If you turn the burner on the unit will act like it was just plugged in, but nothing will get hot. If you turn it back off, the display goes out. What do I need to do?
Thanks for the help.

Question #6:

Smooth top electric range:?

Bought a Frigidaire on December 27th; has a 'smooth top' electric range.

Question:

{1} what in the world makes the 'smooth top' so dog-gone hard to clean? What is this 'smooth top' made of?

{2} how is it possible for the 'eyes' {or elements (?)} to heat up so fast? I could not believe just how quickly (< 5 seconds!) those things heat up!

Thank you, and have a blessed day!

Question #7:

FRIGIDAIRE RANGE FGFB75DCC CLOCK/TIMER (316418301) blank?

$ is tight & trying to avoid a service-call. Just "de-moused" a model FGFB75DCC electric range. The 2 (rear) burners work fine. The 2 front gas-tubes were bent & ruined opening top (need replacing...lesson learned) but the electric-ignition works on the 2 burners still connected. So I know the gas & electric connections are ok. Now suddenly display won't light. More than once the oven took some good knocks getting moved around (more lessons learned) but all wires terminate normally &look ok. Not even a fault-code...just stays dark. Think I should replace the elec oven-ctrl or is there anything-else I should test? Found one on Ebay for ~$126. Thanks everyone.

Question #8:

Frigidaire Gallery Range/Oven Questions?

So I moved into a house where there is a Fridgedaire Gallery series gas Range/Oven. It seems to work I guess, but I had a few questions. First, I noticed that when I use the oven, there is a fair amount of heat that comes out from the area of the range right between and behind the two back burners. I've also noticed that preheating the oven takes quite a long time and that the broiler doesn't seem to get quite that hot. Is that heat in the back a sign of leaking heat that's affecting the performance of my oven? Or is that heat just normal for gas ranges (I've always had electric ones before this) or normal for Frigidaire Gallery ranges?

Question #9:

What is the value of a 1957 frigidaire electric range with the wonder oven?

Question #10:

What would my kitchen oven be worth?

I have a 1961 Frigidaire Flair Electric Range. It is in excellent condition. The only thing that don't work is the clock. There are no dents in it. Spic and span clean. All burners work. Double ovens that pull open upwards. Oven lights work. Nothing is wrong with this stove, just the clock.

Question #11:

Is it simple to replace the heating element on an older electric range?

I've got an older range, Frigidaire Electri_Clean , that apparently needs a new bottom heating element. None of the parts websites have my model number (REG36HL*2). I'd guess its probably 30 years old. Are the heating elements of this vintage pretty much the same or does it have to be an exact replacement? Thanks!

Question #15:

Stove outlet wiring- 220 w/3 wires to 3 + ground plug?

We have a very old house. It will be very very hard to run a 4th wire, especially at a large gauge, to the stove. Question is this- the constant/white and the ground both hook up the same on our panel (yes, old panel). So basically, were they color coded, we would have black, red, and a white or green to the outlet. The plug provided for the stove requires black, red, white, and green. As the white and ground are connected in the same way at the box, and the old stove was wired with only the 3 total wires (should have taken pictures before unhooking the old outlet!!) could the ground be left off? Would the new 4 wire stove still function? Could the white/ground be split since it's got either 6 or 4 ga strand wire and then be the white and the ground?
Here is a link to the stove, if it's relevant: Click Here
Thank you!
I will try to get a picture, but here's an expanation: There are a bunch of breakers in 2 rows in the middle, vertically, like any panel. Above the breakers, the main comes in. Next to that, there are 2 rows of the slots where you stick the wire in and tighten the screw. Both are exactly alike and hold grounds and commons. I've already had an electrician out and 2 friends who do reasonable amounts of electrical work. The 2 strips serve for ground and common, where they would be separated on a newer panel. We didn't keep the old outlet because, well, it was old and nasty. I know for a fact that 2 wires are hot and connected to the legs of a 220 breaker. I know for a fact that the 3rd wire is connected to the common/ground strip. I live in south GA. And I don't have the thousands of dollars for an electrical overhaul on my grandfathered in system. Really, we're moving a stove outlet from an old location a few feet over. It's just that we got a new plug and outlet instead of using the old
And I have it resolved- they sell a 3 wire plug that fits my stove at the appliance shop. But I will still choose the answer that best considers the information available. Thanks for the help so far!

Question #16:

Appliance Servicing people need some help - Ranges?

I have an old stove. I rent my apartment but I need new elements the other ones are shot. But they are 120 volts and the generic ones are 250 volts plus they don't really fit right. I don't want to dabble with electric things like that who knows you short something and then there is a problem forget it. Plus they are expensive. I saw a really nice frigidaire basic range for $349. I would love to buy that but it is a 30 inch and my landlord would have to take out a little island between the fridge and the stove. They don't make 24 inch ranges that much anymroe and if they do they are way more expensive. My question if for the elements but any advice you can give me about ranges would be grand. It is a GE made by Camco I think it is old

Question #19:

Need A New Ceramic Top Range-Where To Start?

Where can I get information to help me make an informed choice? Our range just blew up. I have no idea where to begin selecting a new one. I want a ceramic top and I want to spend less than 900.00. Our old one was a Frigidaire and always had electrical problems, so I know I don't want Frigidaire. Tell me anything you know about ceramic top electric ranges, please!

Question #20:

Frigidaire electric range,on broil, smoke came out, part under controls got hot. Cooks fine.Should I replace?

Frigidiare appliance number FEFL77ABG . The smoke came out from under the control panel and there is a metal piece under there (on the left) that gets very hot. I don't know if it is supposed to get that hot. I took off the top back cover and saw wires that appear to be intact. There is a rectangular metal case in the back which appears to contain some wires and also appers to be connected to the metal flange that is sticking out under the control panel (and getting hot). This metal case also gets hot. On cooking and turning on the oven it does not create any smoke. Have not tried broil yet.
