Question #1:

A first-time bass guitar?

I'm pretty proficient at playing an acoustic guitar and an electric, but now I thought it'd be super fun to jam out to a bass. Although I'm stuck now. I want a bass guitar (and amp, I have my electric guitar amp but I'm not sure if it'd work with both bass and electric). Sorry but this is going to be a multi-question thing =P

first question: Do I need a separate amp to play a bass?
second question: 4-string bass vs. 5 string?
third: My price range is 400 dollars for guitar + amp & cord. Any recommendations?

oh... I might as well throw this one in here, can someone give me the most commonly-used effect pedals for electric? I play it clean usually or with the built-in-the-amp distortion which pretty much sucks so I want some pedals.

Question #2:

Welding the spider gears in my truck?

I have a 2 wheel drive s10 that ive lifted a little, its my hunting/fun rig that gets on the pavement too. it has an open diff as of now but i want a cheap locker so i can at least get out to the light/easy trails at the local offroad park.
i cant afford a mechanical/pneumatic/electric locker. i have easy access to replacement rear ends but im wondering if welding my spider gears will cause anything to break? or should i go for a spool (which is more in my price range, just never installed one before.)

Question #3:

What type of effects should I get?

So, here's the deal:

I've been playing the classical guitar for about 8 years now, and decided I want to try some different types of music. I bought a Fender Squier Guitar, and really like it, and I have a Dean Markley K-15X amp.

I have absolutely NO experience in buying equipment for electric guitar, and have no idea what type of pedels to get. I want something versatile, and would especially like to be able to play Punk and Indie Rock, as well as some classic rock.

I was looking at the BOSS DS-1 and Modtone Speedbox as they both seem to be in my price range... Are they any good?? Or do you have any other recomendations???

Question #4:

Water droplet in earths gravitational pull?

A small drop of water measuring 0.6 mm in diameter, hangs suspended above the ground due to the Electric field of the Earth (140 N/C). How many extra electrons are on the drop of water?...I was getting something in the 4.95 range but that can't be correct...If you could show me with the actual numbers i would appreciate it.

Question #5:

Switching from gas to electric range?

We currently have a gas stove top, but electric oven bottom. We really like it, however, the mother board on the key pad has gone out. It is $250 for the part to fix it. Given that finances are a little tight anyway, we are opting to get a new range all the way around so we can have a warranty on it. If we choose to go electric, is that possibly since we currently have a gas stove top?

Question #6:

The elements on my electric range are not level, when cooking everything slides to one side of the pan, very annoying!

Question #8:

How can I increase the power of a small electric motor?

This application is for an automatic Nerf gun, which uses a motor to compress a spring which moves a plunger, which uses air to fire a foam dart. I want to replace the spring so it has more range. But if I increase the spring, more power will be needed. Anybody know how I can do this, and a Motor replacement will be difficult/impossible.

Another thing, a previous electric nerf gun (vulcan) has heating issues when the voltage is increased, but i dont know how much extra power causes it. If I do change the power it'll likely be around 50%, to be on the safer side, and i think ill try to add some kind of cooling aparatus(any ideas on that?)

I really have an interest in playing guitar but I really just don't know where to start. I have an electric guitar and I listen to music ranging from avenged sevenfold to whitechapel, and would in turn want to be able to cover songs, not any time soon, but in the future. I wan't to learn but I have no clue where to start, and then after that where to go from there. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what I should do? Thanks in advance!

Question #11:

What is the best pocket-bike on the market?

My 14 year old son asked for a pocket-bike for his birthday next month and I had a couple of questions about which one to get him. First are pocket-bikes the best type of scooter? It will not be ridden on the road, just my driveway (which is very large). Second it should be able to go up to 30 mph, so is gas a better option than electric? And lastly, which is the best model? It needs to be in the 200-300 price range. Thanks in advance!

Been listening to a lot of Blues lately, and the guitar melodies and licks are just so mellow.. I want in. I'm a fairly established musician, and my musical theory and ability are good, so all I'm really wondering now is whether to buy an electric or a hollow body.

Question #15:

Difference between a Gibson Studio Electric Les Paul and a Gibson Standard Les Paul?

Hi guys. Even since I was 15 I have dreamed to own a Les Paul. Well now I can't necessarily afford a Standard Les Paul (which is at least $2,200), but I can afford something within the price range of $800-1,300. I came across two guitars. An Epiphone Les Paul and a Gibson Studio Electric Les Paul. I know Les Paul's made by Epiphone are from China but apart from the pickups and the quality, it sounds a lot like the original LP made by Gibson.

But I have stumbled around these so called Studio Electric Les Paul's made by Gibson. I'd like to know what is the overall difference between those and the standard LP's by Gibson. Because if the quality is a really big difference, then I might as well get an Epiphone one for now (which ranges from like $500-800)...

Hope I made my questions clear! Thanks in advance, guys.:)

Question #16:

How much would it cost to relocate an electric hot water heater to workshop?

I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and my water heater is in my attic. I want to replace my hot water heater and have it moved to my workshop under my carport. What price range am I looking at to do the work?

Question #17:

What are the best ELECTRIC cooking ranges for the $500-800 price range? Brands and models from EXPERIENCE?

I just bought a foreclosed townhouse and need to purchase a new range since the one there currently is cracked inside and not usable. I do not want to spend more than $800 INCLUDING delivery. I only have the option of electric and it needs to be the standard 30" size. I have been looking at Maytag, Frigidaire, Whirlpool and GE. Has anybody had either a really good or really bad experience with any of these brands? I want something with an accurate oven temp, FAIRLY easy to clean/maintain and in stainless steel. Thanks!

Question #18:

Buying an Electric Guitar...?

Okay, so I've been playing acoustic guitar for about two years now, but I've always wanted to play electric. The problem is, I'm not sure what kind of electric to get. Some people are telling me that different guitars have different 'sounds', and that I should get a guitar appropriate for the music I play.

My two favorite kinds of music include alternative (All Time Low, Hey Monday, The Maine), Screamo (Bring Me The Horizon, Alesana, A Day to Remember).

My price range meets a limit at about $600.

Question #19:

How much is the average student's electric bill? How much is yours?

I'm trying to estimate how much my rent will be plus gas and electricity, but I have NO idea how much the average student's electric bill is...does anyone have some sort of ball-park range? I like to have some noise in the background usually, whether it's the radio or some tv show, so that might up the cost. Plus, the house has no gas- it's all electric. Anybody know?

Question #20:

Could someone help me solve this heat transfer problem?

I can't seem to crack it.

Water is boiled at 1 atm pressure in a 20-cm-internal-diameter stain- less steel pan on an electric range. If it is observed that the water level in the pan drops by 10 cm in 30 min, determine the rate of heat transfer to the pan.

I calculated the mass to be 0.26, is this correct? I multiplied that by the enthalpy fg value and I can't seem to get the correct answer.
