If you've really been doing this for 20 years you know that some tenants are good and honest while others are just scum.
The way you've asked the question I could ask "Why are all property managers anal-retentive buttheads who only care about money"? See? Works both ways.

Those who do that are obviously not thinking. This is a a way of life for many people, and most will never get their act together to actually purchase a home of their own. These are the same people who have an attitude about landlords, and they have no respect for themselves or their living quarters. Thank God for the landlords who do report them - that's how the rest of us find out that they are dirtballs and refuse to rent to them. And so the cycle continues...........
