( Back )
Answer #1:
Get an ibanez RG. Pickups are cheap and can be replaced later. EMGs arent really that great. Dimarzios are better. Ibanez makes the best all around hard rock/metal guitar. go 4 it.Answer #2:
The EMG's that are the most desirable for metal are the active models Guitars with these are generally quite expensive. I would suggest that, in order get the most for your buck, that you buy a used guitar. Ibanez and ESP are very good and widely available. Another possibility is to get a MIM Fender Stratocaster with a humbucker in the bridge position. Fenders are easy to sell when you want to move up.While the guitar is important, most of the players who have the aggressive sound you cited, have complex pedal setups and.outboard boxes in addition to the coloration of the amplifier. Save some money for at least two used pedals.
The Laney is very good, but not widely distributed in the US. I use a Roland Cube and a Vox, both of which have a wide range of sound emulations. and are solidly made. Some of the most famous rock recordings are actually done with small practice amps under 50 watts. It is easier to control and develop your sound on a small amp and you want to preserve your hearing! Try to get one with a 12" speaker.
Most of all, you should take the plunge and get started. Every serious guitar player goes through a ton of instruments in their lifetime so get one that has;
1. Good action
2. One or more humbucker pickups
3 Priced right
4 A recognizable brand that is easy to resell.
