Question: Is an Ibanez ART100 a good guitar for a beginner?

Answer #1:
That's a very nice looking guitar. As long as it's comfy to play then go for it.Make sure it's set up properly too.
Go for a Vox amp. they are great and are priced well.
Try a few out. I have a Pathfinder 15 and is awesome. Am getting another one.

You've got excellent taste in guitars! And in my opinion, the Ibanez ART100 is at least as good as a Fender. Ibanez guitars are built like rocks, look and sound amazing, and are often nicer than guitars costing twice as much. They're also perfect for beginners, since they've got amazingly thin necks that make it much easier to move smoothly between chords and notes than you could with most guitars. And the action is nice and low, too, which makes them really comfortable to play.I've got way too many guitars, including Fenders, a Gibson and a Rickenbacker. But my Ibanez ones are my go-to guitars for both playing live and recording, since they sound as great as they play and none of them has given me a moment of trouble (and I've had one -- a cheap one I bought second hand -- for more than 25 years).
As for an amplifier, the Fender 25R is a great little combo amp that sells for about $100. The reviews are all very favorable and I've had several bandmates who used it for practicing and loved the sound. Here's a link:

Peavey makes some great, nearly indestructible amps, too. I've used Peavey mostly for bass, but know the guitar amps are also a great value. Here's a link to one worth considering:

Congratulations on the new guitar! It's gorgeous and versatile enough to be used for just about any playing style. And it has a stylistic advantage over most guitars in that it would look good whether you were playing with a metal band or a jazz combo. I'm certain that if you buy it, you'll still be playing it and loving it twenty or thirty years from now. Good luck with the transition from bass to guitar! I did the same thing and playing both makes you infinitely valuable to most bands.
