Answer #1:
Sounds like you had a spill or some oil/grease is in the bottom. Your best bet it to turn in on for a good cleaning. Open your windows and turn on the fan, your house will smell like an oven. Might I suggest a Yankee Candle?Answer #2:
Try cleaning it first yourself, if it keeps smoking then I would call someone.Answer #3:
Smoke normally happens when the oven is dirty especially when the heating elements have splatters on them.1. Check your gasket to be sure it's sealing ( the weaved cloth part around the door).
2. Running it on the self cleaning cycle will create more smoke...be sure to use a scraper first to get off what you can. Also run the exhaust fan and open a window during the process.
If you are nervous about it have a friend come over that knows about self cleaning ovens and make sure it's going well. It can be a bit scary the first time you do it. The oven will smoke if there is alot of build up don't be worried.
In the future run the cleaning cycle monthly.
Answer #4:
visual inspection. does it look dirty? if so, clean it.what does it smell like? burning wires/plastic or burnt food/residue?
common sense comes in handy here. give it the eyeball and the nose test.
if it's electrical issue, more than likely it would trip a circuit breaker, but be careful, just in case. the good cleaning option may just solve the issue. IF not, the nature of your question suggests you call a pro. GL with it. jim
Answer #5:
It could just need a good cleaning. I just did mine today because spills on the bottom of the oven started to smoke and cause a burning smell** Powered by Yahoo Answers
